CYQ LEVEL 3

The CYQ Level 3 course in Pilates is compiled of 4 units:-
 

Unit 01 – Exercise and Fitness Knowledge (level 3)

ASSESSMENT 1: An externally assessed multiple choice anatomy & physiology theory questions.

ASSESSMENT 2: An invigilated, internally assessed case study.

 

Unit 02 – Principles and Fundamentals of Mat Pilates

Includes general principles, posture, muscles, exercise analysis, selection and progression.

ASSESSMENT 3: An internally assessed multiple choice theory paper.
 

Unit 03 – Plan and Prepare to Instruct a Progressive Mat Pilates Session

Including lesson planning, information gathering and analysis and preparation of equipment if applicable.

ASSESSMENT 4: Internally assessed lesson plan.

ASSESSMENT 5: Internally assessed live case study.

ASSESSMENT 6: Internally assessed progressive exercise programme.
 

Unit 04 – Instruct, Manage, Adapt and Evaluate a Mat Pilates Session

ASSESSMENT 7: Internally assessed observed assessment of a practical session.
 

Subjects covered at Stage I include:-

 ·       Practical example Pilates classes

 ·       History and Principles of Pilates

 ·       Postural Evaluation

 ·       Muscle Balancing

 ·       Pitfalls of Pilates

 ·       Benefits of Pilates, including Lymphatics and the Nervous System

 ·       Exercise Prescription and Accommodation

 ·       Class Structure, Progression and Teaching Skills

A full manual is provided and all of the portfolio paperwork required to complete the qualification. All you need is a pen and some spare paper for extra note taking.

Please note that if you are applying for this course and have no anatomy and physiology background, you will need to purchase the health and fitness handbook - by dalgleish and dollery. Read and learn the first 8 chapters, we are there to support your learning both online or by telephone. Anatomy & Physiology revision days are now available to assist learning.

A full manual, anatomy & physiology exercise book and portfolio documentation are provided. All you need bring along is comfortable clothing, pen and paper.
Successful completion of this qualification will enable you to teach Pilates matwork either in a group situation or one-to-one and is a recognised Qualification to gain entry onto the Exercise Register at Level 3.


 

CERTIFICATE IN TEACHING PILATES STUDIO EQUIPMENT
 

The PTS Certificate in Pilates runs over 6 days:-
 
DAY 1 & 2 – The Reformer & Trapeze

  • Comparing and contrasting mat-based Pilates versus Studio Equipment
     
  • Advanced Neurology – how and why?
     
  • Health & Safety considerations of Studio Equipment
     
  • Introduction to the Reformer and Trapeze
     
  • 20 beginner exercises
     
DAY 3 & 4 – The Reformer, Trapeze and Small Equipment
  • Progression of exercises - strength versus motor control
     
  • Additional small equipment e.g wunda chair, arc barrel, etc
     
  • Assessment preparation
     
  • 30 progressive exercises
     
DAY 5 & 6 – Performance Pilates and Assessment
  • Continuation of progressive exercises for performance.
     
  • Theory and Practical Assessment.

A full manual and assessment documentation is provided. All you need bring along is comfortable clothing, pen and paper.

 


 

Update Days

These are suitable for people who have already gained an OCR level II award or above. They are designed to complement our existing courses.


UPDATE DAY - SMALL EQUIPMENT


Includes the following:

  • Introduction to the use of small equipment in a matwork class and with one to one clients.

  • Considerations when using small equipment.

  • Application with each of the 34 matwork moves and other commonly used exercises.

  • Masterclass using small equipment - stability balls, foam rollers, isotoners, chi balls, and dynabands.

 

UPDATE DAY - MUSCLE TESTING &

FUNCTION



Includes the following:

  • Muscles - testing and function - why does the hamstring become dysfunctional? How can we spot dysfunctions with individuals?

  • Postural analysis - individual muscle tests will be explained and demonstrated so you learn the tools of one to one assessment.

  • Postural correction - additional corrective & preventative methods to address muscle imbalance, complimenting Pilates exercises.


UPDATE DAY - PILATES & PREGNANCY with Helen Carpenter-Waters


Includes the following:

  • Benefits of Exercise during pregnancy

  • Risks and Contra Indications

  • Physiological Adaptations during the 3 trimesters

  • Activity Modifications

  • Application of Pilates


The Small Equipment and Pilates & Pregnancy courses will run from 10.00 am - 5.00 pm

These are held at Cannons Health Club, Weybourne Road, Farnham. Surrey

 

The Muscle Testing course will run from 10.00am - 4.00 pm

This is held at St. Mary's College, Twickenham
