Entry Requirements – Exercise Referral Level 3 award AND one of the following:
• Pilates Level 3 award or
• Advanced Fitness Instruction / Personal Training at Level 3
• Relevant industry teaching hours • Level 3 Exercise to Music
Target Candidates:
• Experienced Instructors wishing to further their career in the health and fitness
sector as a specialist instructor who can address the needs of patients/clients with
low back pain.
Aim:
• To train candidates to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe,
plan, conduct and review programmes to address the needs of patients/clients with
low back pain.
Objectives:
• To development of a specific in depth understanding of functional anatomy and
biomechanics, relating to the spine and lower back.
• To apply appropriate training approaches to plan and design progressive
programmes for clients suffering with low back pain.
• To develop an understanding of the disease process and how activity or inactivity
influences low back pain management
• To develop an understanding of medications, psychological/sociological factors and
co-morbidities that influence an individual's ability to exercise safely and effectively.

Course Info:
This course is direct access, no previous qualifications are necessary. Learning materials for Anatomy and Physiology are provided prior to the course for home study. It is divided into 2 stages , both of which must be completed to gain the full award.
Note: If you already hold the OCR Level 2 Pilates qualification, you need only to attend stage 2 of the course to compete the full Level 3.
Level 3 Assessment:
Unit 1: Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
• Assessment 1: An externally assessed 1-hour multiple choice question paper
Unit 2: Principles and Fundamentals of Mat Pilates
Includes general principles, spine and posture, muscle, exercise selection and progression.
• Assessment 2: Set of worksheets completed as part of portfolio building
Unit 3: Plan and Prepare to instruct a Progressive Mat Pilates Session
Includes lesson planning, information gathering and analysis and preparation of equipment if applicable.
• Assessment 3: Internally assessed Lesson plan
• Assessment 4: Internally assessed live case study
• Assessment 5: Internally assessed progressive exercise programme
Unit 4: Instruct, Manage, Adapt and Evaluate a Mat Pilates Session

Course Info:
This course is aimed at people who hold a Pilates Matwork qualification.
The PTS Certification runs over 6 days, with optional assessment on day 6 or arrangements can be made to be assessed on a 7th day if preferred.
Students will learn how to use the Reformer, Trapeze, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Arc Barrel and 8 small pieces of equipment.

Course Info:
This course is aimed at those who have completed comprehensive training with companies who do not offer an awarding body accreditation.
As from 2010 ALL Pilates Training companies had to become accredited with CYQ,OCR or Active IQ. These are the only recognised awarding bodies for Pilates qualifications in the UK.
This course enables you to complete the assessments for CYQ level 3 Pilates Matwork (regardless of who you trained with) without attending the whole course. The requirements of the qualification are covered and an explanation of how to complete the work in preparation for assessment.
Note: This course is NOT suitable for those who have an OCR level 2 qualification. You first need to attend our Stage 2 of the Level 3 Pilates Matwork Diploma - please contact us for enrolment and more details. |
